Hello, Space Worms. These guidelines were brought to you by Urnam-BOT
. A lot of people are a bit afraid or nervous to join, usually because it is their first time roleplaying, but we and the other members just like to have fun. Go ahead and talk to us… we don’t bite!
You must be literate (meaning the text on your application must be readable). If your application's description has run-on sentences (a universal grammatical error!) and things that would make your language arts teacher cringe, then we're just going to ask you to clean up.
Also, you never, ever have to roleplay in English. Roleplaying and chatting through typing is a fantastic way to learn new languages. When reviewing your application, the admins can use a translator if you want to roleplay in a language none of know how to speak. General Rules and Etiquette
Please don’t irritate other members of the group and please be respectful. Your characters may irritate and be rude to other characters, but please be sure to add some realism to their personalities if they are naturally drama queens.
If you are not respectful of other members or the admins, we will ask you to leave.
If you are a part of the group but cannot get into the chatroom, let the admins know. We’ll fix the problem unless it’s an internet connection issue.
Don’t hold back any suggestions, you guys! What you want to see we have the power to do. Ask us for any questions or concerns about exceptions you might have. If you want something, the answer is usually going to be a “yes”.
You must be a member of the group to roleplay.
Do not spam advertise the group. We will hide spam and block the user from the group.
Please do not lie about the number of gemberries (unit of currency) you have. We are on the honor system here, and many of the group members have worked exceptionally hard to earn those gems. If we find out you have been intentionally lying to us, we will unfortunately have to kick you out of the group. Joining
Fill this application sheet out and link it in your join request:
(Don’t send a join request in a comment, please select the “Join” button on the front page.)
You cannot join unless you have been on deviantart for at least a month.
Add a minimum of 5-sentence backstory, 5-sentence species and home planet bio, and anything cool or unique about your character’s personality in the description.
If you have a reference sheet for your species and it makes up more than 5 sentences of information, you may link it in the description instead. Just be sure to add a thing or two about your character’s home planet in the description if it’s not in the reference.
No Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters. Please make their personalities realistic, but interesting! Your character can be insane, but not unrealistically.
A space suit is required for joining and submitting another character reference. No WIPs allowed; it must be drawn onto the application upon joining.
Any updated applications have to be changed to fit the group's standards. This only applies if you are redesigning your character.
They cannot have any upgrades until you buy some with rare gemberries. Here is the info on currency: space-garden.deviantart.com/jo… Character Requirements
Your character can be an alien or a robot.
Your character can choose from any of these classes and ranks:
Classes and RanksClasses and Ranks
There are a total of 12 ranks in 4 different classes. You may choose any of these for your character.
The Chief Surgeon, Commander, and Captain's roles will each be assigned to a single character. The admins will decide who gets which role.
Your character may switch to any rank within their class after two weeks of "training". Training can be done by anyone with the same rank, but if there's nobody around, don't sweat it. Your character can practice alone if they wish.
There are no "bottom" and "top" ranks (except for Captain, Commander and Chief Surgeon), so you can choose any rank except for those from the beginning.
Children transitioning to teen/adulthood must train for a month.
(The class responsible for healing the citizens of Teklin)
Chief Surgeon - 1 Slot :thumb5475
No humans, but humanoid aliens are encouraged. We also encourage you to create cyborgs or androids!
No Earth animals, Earth animal hybrids, or aliens that look like Earth animals allowed. If they have too many qualities that look like Earth animals, the application will be declined. The admins will help you out privately if you’re having problems, or you can get an early review of a sketch if you link it to us beforehand.
You may use any of the alien species inside the “Free Species” folder! space-garden.deviantart.com/ga…
A jetpack can be purchased with gemberries, so we don’t allow wings or flight ability.
No dog/cat muzzles on your character or dog/cat ears.
You may create a character of any alien species you like as long as it isn’t from a video game, book, movie, or anything published in the media that does not belong to you or a friend.
To prevent godmodding in combat, no fully-grown character standing completely upright can be above 12 feet in height and no shorter than 3. Characters above 10 feet must have a thinner body type.
No character, length-wise (from top of skull to tail tip), can be more than 15 feet.
Width-wise (your characters arms/limbs stretched out) cannot be more than 12 feet.
Your character must have hands to use tools with. They must be able to walk around easily on two legs unless your character is centaur or insect-like. The closest to a quadruped they can be is comparable to the body of a chimpanzee. Hands are a must; having paws that pick things up spread infection.
Your character can be any age except a baby or child. Your character may be a middle to older teenager as long as no adult supervision is needed for them. Specifics
Elongated muzzles are okay, as long as they do not resemble a typical mammal’s. No dog/cat noses allowed whatsoever. Human/cat nose hybrids (like a Na’vi from Avatar
) are okay, because they are not simply a dog or cat nose.
There is a limit on big, fluffy tails. We understand the founder of the group has Blikkim characters with tails like this, but there wasn’t any way we could know what this group would grow into. Your character will likely be declined if it has a tail like this or a cat/dog tail. However, exceptions can be made. If your character’s species lived on an ice world it only makes sense to be covered in fur or hair. It will also depend on what the rest of the design looks like. If it is “generic”, meaning that it lacks some unique qualities that give it character and looks like many things we’ve seen before, it will be declined if it has a tail like this.
Blikkim characters must be well thought out. Urnam-BOT
will judge any Blikkim applications the group gets. All Blikkims accepted will have a unique personality and backstory that stands out or is interesting. Please know that if you create a Blikkim application, the description must be more than the bare minimum.
Characters no longer have to be completely new. A lot of you have characters that already have detailed backstories and all sorts of information already backed up on. However, do be sure that you match up the setting in Space Garden with your character. What you create must fit in with the universe.
No “superpowers”. This includes flight, eye lasers, super strength, mind-reading, etc. You may, however, add interesting quirks to your alien species that does not make social situations/fights any easier for your character. Telepathy is allowed, but for communication only if they lack any other means of speaking. Sidekicks and Upgrades
Check out the Upgrades available in the Featured folder. You can purchase them to enhance your character’s abilities!
Your plant sidekick can be drawn in the application as well as your character's stats. Here are the plant species:
You may only have one plant partner per character. These are not required at all, but are a nice "free" upgrade. Use the reference sheet if you’d like one: urnam-bot.deviantart.com/art/S…
Don't forget, you can use that reference sheet to draw a robot sidekick as well. You can purchase this upgrade from this sheet (Labeled "Robot Pet"): urnam-bot.deviantart.com/art/S…
You can have one plant and one robot per character.
Just remember, robot pets can't look animal. Keep them alien, just like your character.
Plant sidekicks are now optional. They are there if you would like a bit of help, but they seem to be relatively unused. Guidelines for a Second Character
Having two characters can be useful if you want to see your character's child grow up and adds a tad more realism to the roleplay.
Your two characters may each have children, plant partners, and everything that your first/original character has and no restrictions.
Your character must be reviewed upon creation so that it meets the requirements of all of the other applications. To be "approved", just submit your drawing to the group's gallery and we'll take it from there.
You do not need to have two characters when first joining, and you certainly are not required to have two characters at a time!
You must use this application sheet if you want to use a second character along with your first (so the admins can keep track): Roleplay
Only book-style roleplaying is allowed. Sample: ”Jane Doe turned to face the place where the sound was coming from.”
PG-13 chat and roleplaying is allowed. Nothing that would make chatting or roleplaying R-rated in any way. Please hold back on the profanity, especially the more offending curses. No sex scenes or roleplaying any kind of sexual intercourse. Violence is, of course, allowed, but extreme detail about the havoc your character has wreaked on another poor soul is not in good taste. A lot of otherwise horribly violent acts can be roleplayed if some of the details are left up to the imagination. Character Specifics
Always be in character!
Every 6 months a character can be switched out. You may join with a character and simply add a second one whenever you wish, but switching out character 1 or 2 can only happen every 6 months. You can keep track of this if you check what date you submitted the reference on.
Your character must be around for at least a month before dying, going away (to live in the city not under your control or elsewhere), becoming lost or left, or being taken away. Your character never has to die and may come back 6 months later if they are not dead. You may replace one character with your “lost” character before 6 months are over if you have had that character for 6 months or over.
Switching ranks (or teenagers getting their first job) requires at least 2 weeks of training with anyone in that rank or the Head Surgeon, Commander, or Captain depending on what class your character is in. If there is nobody actively around to help train your character, don’t fret.
Your character has a job to do… be sure they get to it! All the paramedics, navigators and soldiers Teklin has hired are extremely important!
No godmodding. Godmodding is making your character win every battle, having everything go your way, etc. If you Gmod too much, we will give a warning. If you continue to Gmod despite the warning we give you, we will ask you to leave. Roll a die or use a number generator if you want a fair fighting experience if your strength/speed stats are equal. In that case, when rolling a die, give more numbers to the stronger/faster character on the die so it's more likely their superior skill will shine through.
You may injure/kill other characters, but the other roleplayer must be the judge of the extent of the injury.
Be fair. If your character is dangerously close the edge of a cliff, and someone punches your character, let them fall instead of performing hundreds of fancy tricks unless your character is skilled at fighting and light on their feet. They do not have to die. They have lost that battle and they must call for a Medic.
You can have visitors on the ship from time to time. Nope, they don't need an application, but if your character has a part of their personality or backstory you feel is important to tell, you can bring visitors onto the ship. The visitors shouldn't be permanent. Crime and Punishment:
If your character kills or injures someone else, they must pay a bail for jail time once they’re arrested.
Be aware that shards cannot be given to other members, unlike gemberries. Your character must pay for their crime, not someone else.
If your character was attacked and sustained injury, the attacker must pay.
Like in real life, "accidents" can happen, and people are sued for it. If the one injured doesn't want to pursue legal action, then the one who inflicted the injury does not have to pay. (Will discuss this more if anyone wishes. It's subject to change.)
Fourth degree murder is considered a crime and in many places, so the murderer and his/her accomplices can be charged with the same crime, even though they themselves didn't commit it. When it comes down to Space-Garden, it's simpler to say that if you did not personally commit the crime itself then your character shouldn't have to pay for it unless they hired someone or purposely put someone else into a dangerous situation where they were (unknowingly going to be) killed.
Assault/attempted assault: 5
Severe injury: 8
shards Relationships and Procreation
Please marry your characters before having a child!
It's not required, but you can use this application sheet if you want to give us a visual of your character's child: urnam-bot.deviantart.com/art/S…
Your babies can live forever, but they cannot grow up to be fully grown unless another member wants to control it and gets rid of their current character, or you give up your current character to control its offspring.
Keep relationships realistic. Meaning, no Twilight or 50 Shades, please.
You may choose whether your character (these are aliens, male or female does not matter) will have a live birth or lay an egg. If you choose not have an egg, you still must pay 1 gold gemberry. If you wish to have an egg, you cannot immediately have it and it must be laid. (Do not make the egg-laying/birth roleplay too gross.) Each egg/pregnancy must last a minimum of two weeks. Eggs can be laid at least 1 week after conception and hatch at least 1 week later.
Any character can adopt a child now instead of just having one themselves. You can have them "apply" to the Galactic Adoption Agency (found in the Yudj Galaxy) and wait two weeks for their "order" to "process" while their new child is being "shipped" to the Agency, and after two weeks, your character may come and receive said child. They still have to meet the application requirements and can't look like dogs/cats/animals/humans. This also costs the same as having your very own child.
You be in control of up to 3 children at a time, but you will either have to have a character care for them, make them grow up and be controlled by another member, be taken away, get lost, or die. Your children are not limited to one partner if their last spouse has died or left.
Your children may not speak until they are at least 1 month old and even then, very little and simply.
Your child cannot ever be fluent in its language before taking the place of someone else's.
If one of the parents dies or leaves and the baby takes the place of your character, you must wait at least 1 month until they're the age you want them to be. You can create fascinating scenes where your child grows up into the real, adult world... or teenage world! Whichever age you wish.
