Plant partners are now optional. They are there if you would like a bit of help, but they seem to be relatively unused.
You can have visitors on the ship from time to time. Nope, they don't need an application, but if your character has a part of their personality or backstory you feel is important to tell, you can bring visitors onto the ship. The visitors shouldn't be permanent.
Guidelines for a second character:
These new guidelines are for those who want to role-play with two characters at the same time. This can be useful if you want to see your character's child grow up and adds a tad more realism to the role-play.
Your two characters may each have children, plant partners, and everything that your first/original character has and no restrictions. Your characters can interact with one another, of course, but roleplaying with yourself is pretty boring unless it is used in moderation.
You are still limited to 4 lifetime characters, however, and your character must be reviewed upon creation so that it meets the requirements of all of the other applications. To be "approved", just submit your drawing to the group's gallery and we'll take it from there.
You do not need to have two characters when first joining, and you certainly are not required to have two characters at a time!
You MUST use this application sheet if you want to use a second character along with your first (so the admins can keep track):
Do not irritate other members of the group and be respectful. Your characters may irritate and be rude to other characters, but please be sure to add some realism to their personalities if they are naturally drama queens.
If you are not respectful of other members or attempt to cause drama with the other members, we will ask you to leave.
If you are a part of the group but cannot get into the chatroom, note the group---don't spam the front page. The admins will fix the problem unless it is an internet connection issue.
Loopholes of these rules WILL be discussed and any suggestions, please let the admins know.
You must be a member of the group to roleplay.
Do not spam the group. We will hide spam and block the user from the group.
Do not lie about the number of gemberries you have. If we find out you are lying, you are immediately kicked from the group. We are on the honor system here, so we are trusting that the members will be honest.
You cannot join unless you have been on deviantart for at least a month.
No Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters. Make their personalities at least somewhat realistic. Your character can be insane, but not unrealistically.
Aliens only! No applications resembling earth animals or humans in any way. You can change things on it that resemble earth animals by making the traits quirky or different. Google images of alien concept designs to help you. You are treading in deep water if your character is completely covered in fur with animal ears and an animal nose.
Your plant sidekick can be drawn in the application as well as your character's stats. Here are the plant species:
You may only have one plant partner per character. These are not required at all, but are a nice "free" upgrade.
Any updated applications have to be changed to fit the group's standards. This only applies if you are redesigning your character.
In the description of your application, you must have a 5-sentence role-play sample (please attempt to have decent grammar), 5-sentence personality overview and 5-sentence backstory.
You must link to me a character reference in your join request (the button on the front page---not in a comment), using this reference sheet:
This character must be brand new!
They cannot have any upgrades until you buy some with rare gemberries. Here is the info on currency: space-garden.deviantart.com/jo…
Do not give them any superpowers.
Your character can be any age you want!
You are allowed up to four characters in your role-play experience. You may only have one character at a time.
Each character must be alive for at least two weeks before killing them off, losing/leaving them somewhere, going away, or being taken away. They do not have to die.
No godmodding. Godmodding is making your character win every battle, having everything go your way, etc. If you Gmod too much, we will give a warning. If you continue to Gmod despite the warning we give you, we will ask you to leave. Roll a die or use a number generator if you want a fair fighting experience if your strength/speed stats are equal. In that case, when rolling a die, give more numbers to the stronger/faster character on the die so it's more likely their superior skill will shine through.
A plant sidekick must be found/designed before you begin roleplaying with a plant partner.
Always be in character!
If your character injures someone on purpose, they will be sent to confinement for at least a week, and you cannot escape the confinement room. If your character kills someone, they will be sent to confinement for at least two weeks, no getting out to do anything fun.
Your character must do the job of the class it is in (if there is a problem). Do not have an unfit character solve problems someone with your character's skill set couldn't solve, although they may attempt to until a professional gets there. Here are the class descriptions:
If you miss an older character, you may revive/find one. But you must have your newer character for at least 2 weeks. Reviving a character will count for a second life, and will take up another slot of your character history. This can only happen if your character's DNA has been retrieved and saved after their death. Be careful how you plan character deaths.
Only book-style roleplaying is allowed.
Unacceptable post: "Characterexample: Look!"
Acceptable post: "Characterexample turned to face the place where the sound was coming from."
You may injure/kill other characters, but your character will be punished, and your roleplay partner must be the judge of the injuries themselves.
Be fair. If your character is dangerously close the edge of a cliff, and someone punches your character, let them fall instead of performing hundreds of fancy tricks unless your character is skilled at fighting and light on their feet. They do not have to die. They have lost that battle and they must call for a Medic.
Please keep all chat PG-13 and under, please! That means no over-the-top swearing and absolutely no inappropriate scenes, please!
Please marry your characters before having a child!
We no longer allow cheating on any parter. This group has some dark themes, but not in a sexual sense. It does not fit nor are we happy to include it. It makes the role-player feel cheated on if they have changed their beloved character to like yours as well. It's just not something we're comfortable with including, and feel it is especially unnecessary when sexual scenes are not allowed (in the chatroom) as well.
Your character may adopt a child (see below for details), even when single. However, they will obviously not have the genetic traits of a mother/father unless your character is lucky. We're not saying you cannot make the child look somewhat like your character, but the aim is to create more diverse characters.
Any character can adopt a child now instead of just having one themselves. You can have them "apply" to the Galactic Adoption Agency (found in the Yudj Galaxy) and wait two weeks for their "order" to "process" while their new child is being "shipped" to the Agency, and after two weeks, your character may come and receive said child. And, of course, they don't have to look like their new parent, obviously. They do, however, have to meet the application requirements and can't look like dogs/cats/animals/humans. This also costs the same as having your very own child. They also cannot be too old or old enough to speak fluently or else it wouldn't be fair to those who are controlling their own offspring limited to those rules as well.
Your babies can live forever, but they cannot grow up to be fully grown unless another member wants to control it and gets rid of their current character, or you give up your current character to control its offspring.
Keep relationships realistic. If your character has commitment issues, wait for them to think through getting married first. If your character regularly rushes into things, maybe they will get married very quickly or have children early in their relationship.
You may choose whether your character (these are aliens, male or female does not matter) will have a live birth or lay an egg. If you choose not have an egg, you still must pay 1 gold gemberry. If you wish to have an egg, you cannot immediately have it and it must be laid. (Do not make the egg-laying/birth roleplay too gross.) Each egg/pregnancy must last a minimum of two weeks. Eggs can be laid at least 1 week after conception and hatch at least 1 week later.
You be in control of up to 3 children at a time, but you will either have to have a character care for them, make them grow up and be controlled by another member, be taken away, get lost, or die. And your children are not limited to one partner, yaddah yaddah yaddah...
Your children may not speak until they are at least 2 weeks old.
After at least 2 weeks, your child may speak "Mama", "Papa", "Hungry" or anything like it.
After at least another 2 weeks, your child may speak very, very little.
After at least another 2 weeks, your child may speak in short, simple sentences.
Your child cannot ever be fluent in its language before taking the place of someone else's.
If one of the parents dies and the baby takes the place of your character, you must wait at least 1 month until they're the age you want them to be. You can create fascinating scenes where your child grows up into the real, adult world... or teenage world! Whichever age you wish.
